I have a long and odd relationship with the South American continent. Over the past decades I have had many opportunities to travel there and all possible trips have canceled for a variety of reasons. So, The Curse loomed large as yet another South America hit my calendar. But this time, despite its best efforts, The Curse was destined to be broken. A week in Ecuador – Quito and the Galápagos – was a fine introductory visit. Enjoy my views of Quito and San Cristóbal here.
Viewed and photographed the August 21 total solar eclipse from the Prairie Hills Golf Course in Pleasanton, Nebraska. See the pictures here.
Have sort of neglected this little corner of cyberspace for a while, but a definitely planning on getting back to work on adding to the photo galleries here. I have so much good material. Check in once and a while!
One of the highlights of living in the north reaches of Los Angeles is the abundance of nearby mountain playground. I have been exploring the Verdugo, San Gabriel, San Bernadino, and San Jacinto ranges for decades, and presently enjoying a renaissance of activity – especially in the San Gabriels.
Join me in the wonderful So Cal high country here.
Finally getting some content up! Had a terrific eight-day trip to Rome in October, and just scratched the surface of the Eternal City.
This was the first outing with my new Sony A-7 and I am generally pleased with the results. Learning to work with RAW files has been a lot of fun. I found I have become rather lazy in my camera-handling habits as a result of a decade or so of small-sensor digital work, particularly with focus and depth-of-field management. The A-7 is a fine camera, and I look forward to becoming more proficient in its use and produce images equivalent (or better) to what I could do with film.
Eight albums of pictures of Rome are here. In addition I had the opportunity to visit the very fine Italian Air Force Museum on Lake Bracciano. Airplane dorks will want to look here.
Just getting started here. I am taking my time getting it all just right before I seriously start adding photographs.
Come back soon!
October 1 update – just have not had time to work on this project (busy making a living and all that nonsense) but should get around to it soon. Check back.
