South America

South America

I have a long and odd relationship with the South American continent. Over the past decades I have had many opportunities to travel there and all possible trips have canceled for a variety of reasons. So, The Curse loomed large as yet another South America hit my calendar. But this time, despite its best efforts, The Curse was destined to be broken. A week in Ecuador – Quito and the Galápagos – was a fine introductory visit. Enjoy my views of Quito and San Cristóbal here.

Finally getting some content up! Had a terrific eight-day trip to Rome in October, and just scratched the surface of the Eternal City.

This was the first outing with my new Sony A-7 and I am generally pleased with the results.  Learning to work with RAW files has been a lot of fun. I found I have become rather lazy in my camera-handling habits as a result of a decade or so of small-sensor digital work, particularly with focus and depth-of-field management. The A-7 is a fine camera, and I look forward to becoming more proficient in its use and produce images equivalent (or better) to what I could do with film.

Eight albums of pictures of Rome are here. In addition I had the opportunity to visit the very fine Italian Air Force Museum on Lake Bracciano. Airplane dorks will want to look here.
